Chapters 1 Visual Communication & 2 Visual Cues

I chose to listen to listen to "One Piece At a Time" by Johnny Cash. I chose my particular cutout because I think it best represented the varying degree of hand movement as a result of my various thoughts, feelings and emotions to the song. I encountered several emotions while listening to the song and even though I didn't draw any representative images about what i was seeing, I would make random changes in direction or line style based on the emotions I was feeling from different parts of the song. When the music was upbeat I had an easy, fairly straight and smooth flow of the pencil. When I became anxious hearing about stealing auto part from a factory, I thought about getting caught and would swoop the pencil back in the opposite direction and at a faster pace with more of a sharp line curve and even a zig zag at times to symbolize rocky or uneven ground as a symbol of my anxiety thinking about him getting caught. When my anxiety subsided, I would swoop back in the normal easy-flow direction and slow down while creating smoother, less sharply curved lines. When the music soloed without lyrics and and the tune turned upbeat again, I ran my line a little faster ad did a couple loops I think. There was definitely varying speed of my hand movement based on tempo, at least at times.
I think what I ended up with is a visual relationship of the overall song and the symbolism with relation to the lyrics lies in the varying speeds, directions, and curves of the lines. It's like circle of an even, and even though it is a circle of sorts, it shows me that there is no perfect circle, with perfectly defined and identifiable lines. I think my take away based on this sentiment is that life, and almost anything in life is characteristic of this. There's a circle, where at some point it goes full and starts back at the beginning, but there is no identical circle and the path to go full-circle is different every time because we all have unique experiences and when it comes to perception, art, creativity and symbolism, there are no two instances of exact experience. I hope that make some semblance of sense.
I think  my color choices resonate with the songs' various obstacles and themes along with a medley of emotions and thoughts. I often see color when I'm listening to music undistracted and without video, Having my eyes closed and having all other sounds muted out was amazing.
